On April 13, 2017, Rolling Counterpoint enjoyed its East Bay debut at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley. Berkeley's diverse residents shared tea and stories about belonging, exclusion and social division with Taro Hattori. Dialogue focused on issues facing their community, and especially ongoing concerns centered on gentrification and community displacement. This event was co-organized by Montalvo and Kala Art Institute, and develops out of Hattori’s participation in Kala’s Print Public Residency Program in 2013-15.
